A subscription to Clarion Hospital Emergency Medical Service entitles a subscriber and eligible household members to unlimited prehospital emergency care by professional Paramedics and EMT’s and medically necessary non-emergency interfacility transportation as defined by insurance guidelines.
Subscription fees do not cover the actual cost of service. Acceptance of insurance reimbursement when a member uses the service covers some of the cost and allows the hospital to keep the membership fee more affordable for everyone. Members have no out-of-pocket expense for emergency service, even if the insurance plan pays nothing at all.
Clarion ambulances are licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health as Advanced Life Support Mobile Intensive Care Units. The highly trained, paid staff of EMT’s, Paramedics and PHRN’s are ready to respond to patient needs 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Prehospital staff provides specialized emergency care under the medical direction of Emergency Physicians from the Clarion Hospital.
Please note that transport/wheelchair van transportation service is also available from Clarion Hospital EMS, but it is not covered by the ambulance service subscription program, Medicare or Medicaid, or most private insurance. However, a reduced transport/wheelchair van rate is offered to EMS subscribers as an added benefit.
The transport/wheelchair van base rate for subscribers is $20.00 per trip (non-subscriber rate is $30.00 per trip). There is an additional mileage charge for any transport over 10 miles. The stretcher van base rate for subscribers and non subscribers is $300.00 per trip and $10.00 per mile. Please consider Clarion Hospital EMS if you need this type of alternative transportation service.
