Change driven by Staffing Crisis in Healthcare; Results in Cost-Savings to BHS Employees in Pandemic Recovery

BUTLER, PA – January 27, 2022 – In an unprecedented effort to remain an employer of choice and to retain and recruit the best talent, Butler Health System (BHS) relieved the cost of healthcare for its employees by rolling back requirements on home host deductibles and coinsurance for 2022 on its applicable PPO healthcare plans for employees.

Employee retention and recruitment has become an urgent matter in most health care settings, including at BHS. With the rising cost of healthcare and escalating costs of group benefit plans, the challenge of affordability for employee health coverage in the pandemic recovery will continue in 2022.

Open Enrollment for 2022 began on November 29, 2021, and BHS employees elected their health care benefits coverage for 2022. BHS’s benefit package is affordable, diverse, and employee-centered, and employees were able to choose the options that best meet their specific needs. Key highlights of the 2022 benefit plan at BHS include multiple plans and carriers to choose from that include first dollar coverage when using BHS facilities and providers—and no home host deductible or coinsurance on applicable employee PPO plans.
