Pastoral Care

What is Pastoral Care?

Pastoral care is an important part of service offerings for patients. Pastoral care in a hospital setting is a service designed to provide spiritual support for patients and their loved ones. Pastoral care is unique-the only service modality where personal, human connection is the central goal.

On-Site Chapels

Butler Memorial Hospital: The chapel is located in the Tower Lobby aspect of the facility. The chapel is a place of peace and quiet, where guests and the loved ones of patients can come for prayer, meditation, and reflection. The chapel offers a space for private, quiet time.

Frick, Latrobe & Westmoreland Hospitals: Non-denominational chapels are located near the main entrances of each hospital and are open 24 hours a day for personal meditation and prayer.

Spiritual Care for Patients:

Spiritual care is available for patients, as well as their family members and loved ones. You can request spiritual or pastoral care in the following ways:

At Butler Memorial Hospital please call 724-284-4444.

At Frick, Latrobe, Westmoreland Hospitals, pastoral care is offered for all denominations. Members of the Catholic clergy round on a regular basis at all three of our hospitals. Ministers from local churches and parishes are also available for personal visits, upon patient and family requests. If an individual wishes to speak with a member of the clergy, arrangements can be made through the individual’s nurse.
