"Enjoying life again"

Susan had previously undergone open-heart surgery to replace her mitral valve. Over time, her valve had become stenotic (restricted opening). This interfered with Susan’s enjoyment of her many daily activities. Because of her diagnosis and symptoms, Susan needed to have her mitral valve replaced again. Instead of undergoing a redo of her open-heart surgery, the option of transcatheter mitral valve-in-valve was undertaken. Susan’s valve replacement was done without any incisions, just a small puncture through her skin into her femoral vein. She was in the hospital only a couple of days and within two weeks was back to normal activity, including enjoying bowling, walking, biking, crafting with friends, and spending time with her cat, Carly.
