MELISSE MASER, CRNP, BHS Neurology and BHS Neurology Service Clinical Coordinator -  Honoree for Pittsburgh Magazine's Excellence in Nursing 2018

Each year, Pittsburgh Magazine highlights nurses, the unsung heroes of the health care field at an awards reception held in their honor at the elegant Omni William Penn on December 5th. Nurses are nominated by their peers and selected by a panel.

This year Melisse Maser will represent Butler Health System as a leader in her field. Melisse is Butler Memorial Hospital’s stroke program coordinator. She successfully built evidenced based pathways, created performance improvement objectives, lead teams to achieve those objectives, educated nursing and physician staff, created and leads the interdisciplinary stroke team, created a stroke rapid response team and protocol.

Melisse received a Bachelor of Science: Nursing – University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA and a Master of Science: Nursing – University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA. Melisse is currently the Neurology Service Clinic Coordinator for Butler Memorial Hospital. She has worked as an Advanced Practice Nurse for the past 13 years facilitating stroke care and spearheading stroke performance improvement at BMH. Previous honors include Cameo of Caring, Donate Life Nominee and the UPMC Presbyterian-4F Creativity and Innovation Award. Melisse is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses.
