Manual Therapy

Manual therapy is a piece of physical therapy that involves skilled hands-on treatment. Manual therapy can help to improve tissue extensibility, increase range of motion, modulate pain, mobilize and/or manipulate soft tissue and joints, reduce soft tissue swelling, inflammation, and restrictions. Techniques may include passive range of motion, mobilization/manipulation, manual stretching, manual traction, massage, and manual lymphatic drainage.

Based upon your examination, the physical therapist selects and implements different types of manual therapy techniques to help address your specific problem. Manual treatment can help decrease pain, swelling/edema, or spasms, can help to improve health/wellness/fitness, increase ability to move, decrease restrictions and allow patient to improve overall physical function.
