The BHS Foundation’s Caring Angel Program has been successful over the past 28 years, raising nearly $2 million to benefit children, youth and their families in Butler County. We are appreciative of the continued support received from the community, BHS employees and Medical Staff, local school districts and so many others.
The funds raised help families and children in need through educational, therapeutic and support services at BHS Family Services. These programs provide individual, family and group counseling, parent-child interactive therapy, adolescent after school programming and much more. Funds also support charitable emergency room care to children whose parents or guardians do not have the resources to pay.
A majority of the fundraising efforts revolve around the Caring Angel Basket Raffle which takes place at the beginning of December each year for a one week period. Employees, physician offices, ambulance service providers and other community members generously donate baskets. Raffle tickets are then sold for a chance to win one of the baskets. There is also a 50/50 raffle.
In 2020 and 2021, the basket raffle was adjusted due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Photos of the baskets were online, along with an order form for tickets. Order forms were completed and sent to the BHS Foundation with check payment. A Drop and Drive event was held where participants could drive through and drop off their order form. In addition, drop box locations were available. BHS staff members then filled all of the orders.
In 2021, $47,500 was raised in basket ticket sales and $30,750 was raised for the 50/50 raffle, with the winner receiving half.
