BHS Diabetes & Health Management staff is deeply committed to giving diabetics the knowledge and self-management skills that will improve quality of life.
The American Diabetes Association estimates that nearly 26 million adults and children have diabetes — but 7 million don’t know it yet. At BHS, we emphasize diabetes education, which is one of the most consistent paths to improving quality of life for diabetics.
Our staff believes that learning about diabetes and how to manage the disease should be an ongoing process. In our model, learning starts with an assessment by a diabetes educator who helps identify areas that will help improve overall health and develops an individualized plan of action. We also encourage all individuals in our program to participate in our ongoing Healthy Living Support groups for further education and support, as well as the opportunity to meet and interact with other diabetics.
