Riding for the Cure group presented a check to Ken DeFurio, President &
CEO of Butler Health System in the amount of $60,080.25 to assist cancer
patients in Butler County.
Since 2012, the group has raised $376,500 overall and has donated more
than $281,000 to the BHS Foundation. These funds assist cancer patients
with their co-pays, medications, utility bills, and other every day needs.
In addition, patients receive hair wigs, halos and accessories. Butler
Health System is so appreciative of this donation and the group’s
hard work and dedication.
The group raises money through their annual Riding for the Cure motorcycle
ride, along with several other fundraisers, some of which include Bowling
for the Cure, Music for the Cure and Golfing for the Cure.
“The support from Lynda and the entire Riding for the Cure team is
overwhelming and humbling”, said DeFurio. “This group not
only organizes the ride, but they hold several other fundraisers throughout
the year, all of which supports cancer patients. Every penny they raise
for BHS goes to cancer patients. They have touched thousands of people
in big and in little ways. They inspire us. They’re the best.”
