Jeffrey C. Astbury, MD, FASE, FACC, FASA, MSBE, MSEE, CSAS, CSNS received
the 2019 Distinguished Alumnus Award in Physics from Edinboro University
on April 11, 2019. The Distinguished Alumni Award was first presented
in 1976 to recognize outstanding alumni and their accomplishments. Edinboro
University honors alumni whose achievements make positive impacts in their
residing communities.
Dr. Astbury received his B.A. in Physics from Edinboro University. The
Fighting Scots welcomed him back to speak about echocardiography and to
honor him with the Distinguished Alumnus Award. While visiting his alma
mater, Dr. Astbury also had the opportunity to speak with the Edinboro
University Football Team to talk about “Life after College and Football”
and a group of Edinboro University professors for a presentation discussing
medical ultrasound.
Dr. Astbury did an additional speaking event in April at Mars High School
with the Pre-Medical Club about echocardiography.
In June, Dr. Astbury was a featured speaker at the American Society of
Echocardiography (ASE) Annual Scientific Sessions focusing on Mitral Regurgitation.
While at this session he also did a poster presentation for Massive Lipomatous
Hypertrophy.
Dr. Astbury is the Vice Chairman for Cardiovascular Services and the Director
of Perioperative Echocardiography, Department of Anesthesiology, Butler
Health System.
