The “Riding for the Cure” group recently presented a check
in the amount of $25,000 to Cheryl Schaefer, of the Butler Breast Cancer
and Women’s Cancer Support Group and Anna Silverio, Butler Health
System Foundation.
The annual ride held on the last Saturday in July, had more than 300 riders
doing their part to wage war on breast cancer and to support the warriors
& victims of the disease.
The Riding for the Cure group was created when one of the members of the
group, Lynda Kerr, learned that her best friend was diagnosed with cancer
at age 35.
"Through the generosity of this group, women diagnosed with breast
cancer can get the help and support they need,” says Cheryl Schaefer
of the Butler Breast Cancer and Women’s Cancer Support Group. “Whether
it’s medical supplies, prosthetics or emotional support, we are
honored to receive this donation presented to the Butler Health System
Foundation to help our community.”
The event, now in its 4th year, has raised over $80,000 to support women with cancer in Butler and
Armstrong County.
