Diabetes Wounds
Diabetes can damage nerves, reduce blood flow and cause structural changes to the feet, producing diabetic foot wounds and ulcers. If you have diabetes, preventative foot care is the key to avoiding chronic wounds.

Infected Wounds
An infected wound arises when bacterial organisms in the wound and surrounding areas prevent healing.

Surgical Wounds
A surgical wound is created by a doctor's incision during surgery. Surgical wound closure can take such forms as sutures or staples, and routine wound care should be administered to prevent the risk of infection.

Swelling
Swelling, also known as edema, results from excessive fluid in the body tissue. Swelling can be caused by injuries such as burns, infections and surgical wounds or by conditions such as lymphedema.

Ulcers
Ulcers are sores that can develop in various areas of the body. Pressure ulcers, commonly known as bedsores, are lesions caused by friction, immobility, age or malnutrition that appear on areas of the body that are bony or cartilaginous such as elbows, knees and ankles.

Venous & Arterial Wounds
Insufficient circulation in veins and arteries can cause venous ulcers and arterial ulcers. Venous ulcers are shallow wounds on the lower leg that can be slow to heal. Arterial ulcers are deeper wounds on the foot or leg that are due to atherosclerosis.
