Overview
Of the treatments available for diabetes, knowledge is still the best medicine.
Few diseases respond as well to quality management as diabetes, which affects more than 18.2 million adults in the United States.
Diabetes education has prolonged the lives of countless patients and kept countless others from contracting the disease. Knowledge starts with the profile of a diabetic and continues through to the identification of warning signs and the steps needed to effectively manage it.
The Diabetes Management Center at Butler Memorial Hospital was created to teach those with type 1 and type 2 diabetes that high quality of life is attainable with the proper knowledge and management of diabetes.
To that end, we believe in the need to keep not only patients but their primary care physicians engaged in the diabetes management process, even after completion of education program. Regular follow-up communications are exchanged with patients and their PCPs to help monitor the management process.
For patients struggling to control their diabetes, Butler Regional Endocrinology is an additional resource that works in tandem with the Diabetes Management Center, providing specialty services and additional education for advanced care. Visit www.butlerendo.org for more information.
The Diabetes Management Center operates from 8am - 4:30pm, and early morning or evening hours are available on request. Please contact us at 724-284-4374 for more information.
