BHS Crystal Ball Hosts Capacity Crowd; Raises $120,000

(Butler, PA) -- Butler Health System Foundation’s annual Crystal Ball was held Sat. March 26 at the Pittsburgh Marriott North in Cranberry Twp.

It was the 10th such event sponsored by the Butler Health System Foundation.

Themed “Springtime in Paris,” the event raised $120,000 to fund technology for BHS’ new molecular medicine lab. More than 400 people attended.

Chairing the planning committee for the event was Vicki Hinterberger of Butler Media Group.

The Women of Legacy Award was presented to Dr. Asha Marwaha.  Joining the Butler Memorial Hospital medical staff in 1976, Marwaha served the Butler community providing Obstetrics and Gynecological care as a solo practitioner for 30 years before retiring. She also served as chairperson of the OB/GYN department, the Tissue and Transfusion committee and the Department of Surgery.

When access to prenatal care for uninsured women in Butler county became critical, Marwaha worked closely with former Chief Operating Officer Carol Dietrich to establish the BHS Maternal Services Program. This program continues to provide pre and post natal care to women throughout Butler county.

Marwaha and her husband were active members of the community supporting the Boy Scout organization and instrumental in establishing Butler’s soccer program.

Having retired to California, Marwaha remains active in women’s issues by supporting P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization). She also volunteers her time to manage medical clinics in India.

The Women of Legacy Award honors those who have notably contributed to the health and well-being of the Butler county community through excellence in patient care, overcoming personal illness or crisis, or improving some aspect of our community’s health.
