November 6, 2008 - (BUTLER, PA) - The Pennsylvania State Senate issued a proclamation on October 29 recognizing BHS' expansion into its new campus, BHS East, and the opening of the Heart & Vascular Center of Butler Memorial Hospital at that location. The proclamation was sponsored by Senator Jane Clare Orie, Senate Majority Whip and Senator of the 40th Senatorial District, which includes part of southern Butler County.
Receiving the proclamation from Jenna Morgan, Legislative Aide to Senator Orie, were Dr. Dean Wolz, Chief of Heart & Vascular Services, Fred Bennitt, Chairman of the Board of Butler Health System, Ken DeFurio, President and CEO of BHS and Rick Allen, Vice President of Strategic Facilities Development and Hospitality.
The new Center provides a wide array of cardiology treatment options for residents of the Butler County region including cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, diagnostic testing, stress testing, nuclear stress testing, Holter monitoring, echocardiography and cardiac rehabilitation, all in one convenient, centralized location.
All of these features were added with patient convenience in mind. The Center occupies two and a half floors of the former Morgan II building at the intersection of Routes 422, 38 and 68. This new BHS campus housing the Heart & Vascular Center is now called BHS East and is only 1.5 miles from the main campus on East Brady Street.
