New Kidney Specialist Appointed to Staff at BMH
November 7, 2007 -- (BUTLER, Pa.) – Wasim Ahmed, M.D., recently returned to the medical staff at Butler Memorial Hospital as a doctor of nephrology and hypertension. With more than 18 years of experience, Dr. Ahmed specializes in adult kidney disease, including the diagnosis and non-surgical treatment of kidney disease.

Dr. Ahmed earned his bachelor of medicine and surgery degree from Sindh Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan. He completed a postgraduate internship at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center, as well as a residency and fellowship at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University at Harlem Hospital Center in New York City.
Board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology, Dr. Ahmed operates his own practices in New Castle and Ellwood City, Pa. He also provided in-patient nephrology consultations at two different hospitals and serves as medical director of the ARA New Castle Dialysis Unit.
Before he came to Western Pennsylvania, Dr. Ahmed worked as a nephrology consultant in a group practice in New Jersey.
