New Pathologist Joins Butler Memorial Hospital Pathology Department
October 31, 2007 - (BUTLER, PA) – William A. Michalak, M.D., has joined Butler Health System as a pathologist at Butler Memorial Hospital. Dr. Michalak comes to BMH with 18 years of experience at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., as an associate pathologist.
Dr. Michalak earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from CUNY at Brooklyn College in Brooklyn, New York. He received his doctorate from SUNY at Downstate Medical Center and completed an internship and residency in anatomic/clinical pathology at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York, followed by a fellowship in surgical pathology at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Conn.
Throughout his 18-year career at Geisinger, Dr. Michalak served in surgical pathology, autopsy pathology, cytopathology, hematopathology and clinical pathology. He also served as director of laboratory for the Kistler Clinic in Wilkes-Barre and Tyler Memorial Hospital in Tunkhannock, Pa.
Dr. Michalak is certified by the American Board of Pathology in both anatomic and clinical pathology. He is a fellow of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and the College of American Pathologists.
He now resides in Mars with his wife, Donna.
