Recovery Advocates Begin Addiction Series
May 9, 2007 - (BUTLER, PA) - Recovery Advocates will host a special viewing of the “Addiction” series that was produced by HBO and developed in partnership with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and National Institute on Drug Abuse on Monday, May 14th from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Net Outreach located at 100 Center Avenue in Butler.
The Butler Recovery Project, under Butler Health System’s Butler Regional Recovery program, is joining with Grace Youth and Family Foundation, the Recovery Advocates and a new program designed to support drug-free recreation and socializing for families called Josh & Carrie’s Place to host the first in a series of screenings of the HBO series.
“Whether you are a person who stopped drinking 15 years ago, or a mom struggling with your child’s drinking and drug use, there’s a whole world of information and effective new treatments options available that will change how you think about addiction and the opportunities for long-term recovery,” says Susan Hetz, Recovery Program Leader who coordinated the program.
Designed for those seeking information or understanding and those who offer addiction recovery services, this series is open to anyone with an interest in recovery. The session will include the screening, a panel discussion and a question and answer session on substance use disorder and its related concerns. The series will continue once a month over the summer.
