BHS Board of Trustees Hold Annual Public Meeting
Dec. 11, 2006 - (BUTLER, PA) -
The Butler Health System Board of Trustees held their annual public meeting this evening at Butler Memorial Hospital. At the conclusion of the meeting, Mr. William Bessor, Board Chairman, along with Ken DeFurio, interim President and CEO, presented a check for $200,000 to Jean Purvis, Larry Berg and Ken Bennett to serve as the lead gift to begin The Community Health Clinic of Butler County. This clinic is being created to serve the health care needs of working people without health insurance coverage.
In addition to the donation, BHS revealed some highlighted results of their bi-annual Community Health Assessment, specifically looking at diabetes and how the hospital can address this community need.
DeFurio provided an update on the construction process and answered questions from the public. He discussed the three-pronged decision to invest in a new patient care tower on the East Brady Street campus, expand outpatient services throughout the Butler region and invest in technology to connect it all together.
Trustee Fred Bennitt, chair of the Board’s nominating committee, reported that the committee was recommending reappointment of the four Trustees whose terms’ end this year and that the Board will assess ways to broaden the nominating process and expand the board with needed expertise from all areas of the region.
