BMH Named One of Nation’s Top 100 Hospitals, Second Year in A RowMarch 3, 2005 - (BUTLER, Pa.) – Butler Memorial Hospital was this week named one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals by Solucient®, the leading source of health care business intelligence, for 2004. This is the second year in a row that BMH has been recognized in the 100 Top Hospital’s listing as a medium community hospital. Only 20 medium community hospitals in the nation made the list.“BMH through the efforts of it’s Board, management team, employees and medical staff, has achieved national benchmark level scores for overall organizational performance in comparison to their peers across the nation,” says Jean Chenoweth, Senior Vice President, Performance Improvement and 100 Top Programs at Solucient Center for Healthcare Improvement. Each year, Solucient®, through its Center for Healthcare Improvement, performs an annual objective statistical analysis of publicly available data from more than 6,000 acute care general hospitals. Through this analysis, Solucient® identifies the 100 Top Hospitals and determines the new national performance benchmarks. A hospital makes the list by actually being selected in one of five categories:
Each year’s recipients set new standards across the healthcare industry through outstanding performance in five critical areas: Clinical outcomes, patient safety, operational efficiency, financial results and service to the community. “The reason you make the list is because you have lower mortality rates, fewer complications, shorter lengths of stay, and lower expenses.
