BMH to Offer Heel Screening in ButlerSeptember 14, 2004 - (BUTLER, PA) - Butler Memorial Hospital will offer a free osteoporosis heel screening on Saturday, Sept. 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Outpatient Services of BMH office located in Butler Commons on New Castle Road.This test takes just a few minutes to complete. Those coming for the test will be asked to place their bare heel onto the Sahara Heel scanner, which was purchased for BMH by the Butler Rotary. This machine is used to determine the density of the bone in the heel to assess the risk for osteoporosis. These heel screenings are for those age 40 and over who have never been diagnosed with osteoporosis. Screens will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis and those participating are reminded to wear clothing that will allow the foot to be bare - no panty hose.
