Transition to Tobacco Free
A Tobacco-free Environment
Complete healthcare involves strong leadership and an unwavering commitment to creating the healthiest environment possible. As a part of its mission to provide a safe and healthy community, Butler Health System (BHS) is now tobacco free. The use of tobacco products is no longer permitted on BHS campuses, sites and properties. This new policy eliminates the risks of second-hand smoke and keeps BHS facilities clean and safe for patients, visitors and employees.
Dangers of Tobacco Use
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports tobacco use as the leading cause of preventable deaths in the United States. An estimated 438,000 Americans die every year from smoking or from exposure to second-hand smoke. And, for each person who dies from tobacco use or exposure, about 20 more are living with a smoking-related illness. Tobacco use is dangerous and deadly, and it should have no place in the healthcare community. BHS has eliminated the negative effects of smoking by becoming tobacco free.
