Tobacco-free Policy
The BHS tobacco-free policy applies to all locations owned and leased by BHS, including parking areas. The policy applies to anyone on these sites including patients, visitors, employees, medical staff, volunteers and students. The new policy has been in effect since September 2, 2008.
The old BHS policy prohibited smoking indoors but allowed designated smoking areas. With the new policy, these areas are eliminated for the protection of patients and visitors. The smoke-free policy includes all facilities of BHS including Outpatient Services, the former Morgan II property (BHS East), Family First Resource Center, BHS WholeHealth and the Benbrook Medical Center.
