Richard Latuska, MD

Richard Latuska, MD As a 20-year veteran of the Butler Memorial medical staff, Dr. Richard Latuska strives to provide a voice for physicians in his role as a trustee. “The other physicians and I are passionate about the care that we deliver. I bring the understanding of what other physicians want to provide to the community and the demands that are put on them. I can understand their concerns and voice them to the board so that we can accomplish our goals.” Since Dr. Latuska started on the Butler Memorial medical staff, he has seen tremendous growth in the medical care delivered at Butler Memorial Hospital. “When I started 20 years ago, I did two colonoscopies a day. Today, our endoscopy unit will do 30 or 40 endoscopy procedures a day, if not more. Open heart, pulmonary physicians, critical care expertise, sleep studies, hematologists, the cancer center – these are just some of the services that were not available to the Butler community in the past.“ Dr. Latuska grew up in McKees Rocks, a small community just south of the city of Pittsburgh, and credits his mother, a nurse during World War II, with instilling in him a commitment to medicine and compassionate care.
